Tia Maria is a dark coffee liqueur made in Italy using 100% Arabica coffee beans, Bourbon vanilla, and Jamaican rum. In 1946, Morris Cargill connected with Dr. Ken Evans to develop a coffee liqueur recipe similar to one his aunt used to make; he could never quite get her exact recipe, so he named it after her — "Tia" being Spanish for aunt. The brand is still produced in Saronno, Italy and distributed in over 60 countries today.
