These are made by Anchor Hocking in their highly collectible Berwick pattern, better known as Boopie glass, and this is the Red Boopie, in the same gorgeous Royal Ruby glass first produced in 1938. The pattern is recognized by the little glass balls all along the rim. It was made in several colors: crystal (clear), amber, forest green and ruby red. If you are collecting Anchor Hocking Boopie, be careful: there are very similar looking pieces, including Early American Bubble, Candlewick, Teardrop, Lariat, Dalzell, Boule, Nova and others made in China and Czechoslovakia.

A beautiful set for your bar or your holiday table, with Valentine's Day, the Fourth of July and Christmas all coming to mind, and a great gift for a collector.

Anchor Hocking traces back to the Hocking Glass Company, founded in 1905 in Lancaster, Ohio, by Isaac J. Collins and six friends who raised $8,000 to buy the Lancaster Carbon Company. A fire destroyed the plant in 1924, and it was rebuilt as a plant designed specifically for glassware. During the Depression the company survived by developing a 15-mold machine that could produce 90 pieces of blown glass per minute, which let it sell tumblers two for a nickel. Anchor Hocking Glass Corporation came into existence on December 31, 1937, when the Anchor Cap and Closure Corporation merged with the Hocking Glass Company. The word "Glass" was dropped from the name in 1969, and Newell Corporation acquired the company in 1987.
