Two large blue butterflies among swaying grass reeds on a clean white ground — the most enduring color story in decorative ceramics, and this little jar tells it quietly and well.
The blue and white ginger jar is a form that has traveled from Ming Dynasty China through every decorating moment since, and it has never worn out its welcome. This one, made in Japan for FTD and still carrying its original foil label, is a compact and versatile example — the right size for a bathroom shelf, a kitchen counter, a bedside table, or tucked into a larger vignette. Use it as a vase, a small lidded canister for bath salts or trinkets, or simply as the sculptural punctuation a shelf needs.
A lovely gift for blue and white collectors, chinoiserie lovers, or anyone who appreciates a well-proportioned classic at an accessible price.
