Pink lotus blooms, sweeping lily pads, a navy blue border — and a matching square plate that turns this into a set worth displaying together.
Andrea by Sadek was founded in 1936 by Charles Sadek, who named the company for his daughter Andrea — still involved in design today. After WWII, Norman Sadek pioneered trade with Japan and helped raise the quality bar for imported porcelain; what came out of those partnerships was consistently beautiful. This large ginger jar (model #9125) and its matching square plate (model #9127) are a perfect example: hand painted pastel enamels on fine porcelain, soft and soothing in tone, the design faithful to the classic Asian botanical tradition. Both pieces retain their original Andrea by Sadek foil labels. Pristine condition on both — no issues whatsoever.
An exceptional gift, a housewarming treasure, or the centerpiece of a Chinoiserie or botanicals-themed room. The set is substantial — over 4 lbs — and will be packed with care for safe arrival.
