This lidded ginger jar is decorated all around with hand-painted iris blooms and fluttering butterflies, each outlined in gold against a pale ground. The original foil sticker — "Made in Japan" — is still intact on the base. The form is classic temple jar, with a well-fitted lid and pleasing proportions. Light, airy, and entirely season-appropriate from February through September.
A lovely gift for a gardener, a chinoiserie collector, or anyone refreshing their spring and summer decor. Use it as a vase, a small lidded canister, or simply a sculptural accent on its own.
