Black tin, neon green, pink, and yellow French outdoor scenes. Barton's Almond Kisses, and very Paris.
The companion to our dancing figures tin, this Barton's Bonbonniere square candy tin originally held Almond Kisses and was sold in the 1950s–60s. The design is its own argument for why these tins were kept: a black ground with neon-bright French outdoor café and street scenes in green, pink, and yellow — vivid, joyful, and unmistakably mid-century. One small dent on the side of the lid; aluminum oxide inside. Very good condition overall for its age.
A wonderful piece for the Barton's collector, the Francophile, or anyone drawn to the bold graphic sensibility of 1950s American candy packaging. Also available in the pink and white Victorian dancers version.
