Ben Rickert Inc. — founded in 1970 by Benjamin Douglas Rickert after years at Yardley of London — distributed luxury bath and body products to stores like Bloomingdale's in New York. His Benature line came in beautifully illustrated tins featuring miniature reproductions of famous artworks, and this cylinder is a striking example: a richly detailed Persian court scene on the lid, with figures at leisure around the sides. The original paper label on the bottom identifies the Benature Bath Foam that once lived inside. Now empty. The exterior looks very nice; significant rust inside — display or decorative use only, not for food.
A rare and unusual piece for the art tin collector, the bath product memorabilia enthusiast, or anyone drawn to Persian-inspired décor.
