This one is a lovely example of the brand's style: a sweet bunny rabbit nestled among heart-shaped flowers, rendered in fine-detail pewter and applied to a flat metal candy tin lid. The tin itself is unmarked, as was typical for Metzke, but the style is unmistakable to collectors.
A charming Easter or spring display piece, a gift tin, or a Valentine's Day accent — the heart flowers make it work for both seasons.
Designs by Metzke was founded in 1963 by Dr. Fred Metzke and his wife Mary — an artist and his equally creative partner — who grew their Tallahassee company into one of the largest pewter giftware manufacturers in the world before closing in 1997.
A delightful find for the Metzke collector. Browse our shop for more vintage Metzke tins to round out your collection.
