Two Victorian women in porcelain, gold-rimmed and velvet-mounted — the kind of wall art that makes a room feel like it has a history.
A matched pair of framed wall hangings from Sungott Art Studios, New York, 1950s. Each features a hand-painted Limoges porcelain cameo — a Victorian female bust, rimmed in 24K gold — mounted on black velvet in a gilded octagon frame. Sungott specialized in reproductions of 18th and 19th-century European styles and was known to use genuine Limoges porcelain plaques in their framed pieces, sold through department and home furnishing stores. Ready to hang: sawtooth hooks on back, decorative rings on top. The velvet has slight wear — more on one than the other — and the gilded frames show wear on the sides. The decorative rings are discolored; easily replaced if gifting. All photographed for you.
