A sweet goose girl in the Hummel tradition — she stands nearly nine inches tall, painted in a soft, warm flesh tone, her geese gathered close. Simple and quietly charming, she'd be equally at home on a farmhouse shelf, in a sunroom, or in a child's room as a lamp. She's built as a lamp base — hollow bottom with cord passage — and would need a top drill to complete the conversion, but she's lovely just as she is. One tiny finger on her left hand is broken; everything else is unmarked and intact. This is a heavy piece, please keep that in mind at checkout.
Holland Mold Inc. was founded in 1946 by Frank Hollendonner in his Trenton, NJ garage, alongside his brother Rudy. Frank had learned mold-making in Austria and brought that craft to American hobbyists, producing blank ceramic molds for home painters to finish with their own colors and creativity. The company remained family-owned for over fifty years before slowing sales led to its sale in 1997 — the new owners continue producing molds for crafters today. This piece is stamped "Holland Mold" on the bottom, with the painter's name beneath. The style traces back to a 1965 mold.
A wonderful find for a Holland Mold collector, a country or farmhouse interior, or a crafter looking for a beautiful canvas to make their own.
