- Figurine, Boy and Girl Baking, Hand Painted Figurine, Romantic Theme, Valentine's Day Decor, Gifts for Bakers, Marked Shelley, (Discontinued)
- Not Vintage: 2002
- Details: This is a very sweet figurine! It has two things we feel are absolutely wonderful. First, the theme of the couple baking a cake together is not easily found. Second, it is stamped on the bottom with a partial poem from the very romantic poet, Percy Bysshe Shelley. The figurine reads: "All Love is Sweet given or returned, Shelly, Valentine's Day 2002". The complete poem from Shelley is as follows: "All love is sweet, given or returned. Common as light is love, and its familiar voice wearies not ever. Like the wide heaven, the all-sustaining air, It makes the reptile equal to the God; They who inspire it most are fortunate, as I am now: but those who feel it most are happier still". Prometheus Unbound (1818–1819; publ. 1820). The colors on this figurine are very soft pastels, blues, beige, soft pink and white make up the color scheme, however, it is because of these soft colors and the gentle faces on the couple that makes it so appropriate for Valentine's Day. Unfortunately there is no maker's mark so we're unable to tell you more about it beyond the description. This piece would make a wonderful Valentine's Day gift for chefs, bakers or anyone who enjoys baking and cooking or someone who loves this poet. A unique gift for a figurine collector!

Percy Bysshe Shelley was born August 4, 1792 in Horsham, Sussex, England. He was one of the major English Romantic poets. Harold Bloom calls him “a superb craftsman, a lyric poet without rival, and surely one of the most advanced skeptical intellects ever to write a poem.” Unfortunately Shelley died very young. At only 29 years of age, he sailed with friends on a poorly constructed boat. They were caught in a storm and died at sea on July 8, 1822.
