One hundred years of getting furniture through the door. This resin figurine commemorates a century of Badcock & More delivery trucks — the vehicles that built a Southern institution one route at a time.
This particular truck reads "Badcock & More Home Furniture" and is part of a commemorative series tracing the company's delivery vehicles from horse-drawn carriage to modern truck. It is notably heavy for its size — solid enough to double as a bookend, which is exactly the kind of unexpected utility that makes a piece like this worth keeping around.
A note on condition: there is a round chip on the side exposing the resin, which may be remedied with a dab of brass-colored paint. The rubber stamp on the bottom that read "1904–2004 Badcock 100 Years of Customer Satisfaction" is missing on this piece. Please review all photos carefully.
The W.S. Badcock Corp. was founded by Henry Stanhope Badcock in Mulberry, Florida in 1904. His son Wogan Stanhope Badcock, Jr. took over in 1920 and navigated the company through the Great Depression by deploying "route salesmen" in small trucks along designated routes and offering credit to customers who couldn't pay in full. Those two decisions — the trucks and the credit — are what kept Badcock alive. Today the company operates in 8 states across the Southeast and continues to offer credit to its customers.
