Details: Such an adorable set of mother and baby quails! These quails were very popular in the 1950's and 60's, these were sold by Amthor Imports (Japan), and similar ones were sold in the 80's by Homco. Due to the shape of the base, we are almost certain these are Amthor. They retain the "Japan" sticker on the bottom. Regardless of which company sold them, they are beautiful, and look very elegant, worthy of a special spot in your home.
Condition: Vintage- Used. Excellent Condition. There are no chips, scratches or crazing on either of these pieces. Amthor Imports has a long history, starting in the 1920's in San Francisco as an import company owned by William Amthor's father. Through a series of events, and faced with excess inventory, William Amthor and Lincoln Bartlett opened a second store in 1958 and called it, Cost Plus. In the 1990's, Cost Plus changed their brand to Cost Plus World Market, today simply known as World Market. It is no longer a family owned business, it's now owned by Kingswood Capital Management.
