A wren on one side, two finches on the other — the kind of detail that turns an egg cup into a keepsake.
This Royal Worcester egg coddler wears the Birds pattern, a quiet naturalist design in the English tradition. Fine bone china, a four-ring stainless steel lid, and a form unchanged since the coddler was introduced — because some things are simply right. Dateable to the 1970s by backstamp. Must be hand washed to maintain condition.
To use: Remove lid, break an egg into the cup, add butter, salt and pepper. Stand in 2 inches of boiling water for a minimum of 6 minutes. Grasp the lid fully to unscrew — the ring is for lifting only. The egg can be eaten directly from the cup.
An exceptional gift for the bird lover, the Anglophile, or anyone who believes breakfast is worth doing beautifully. Lovely for Mother's Day, a birthday, or a quiet personal indulgence.
