Even Trifari couldn't quite describe these. We'll try: a black Lucite ring, close to the ear, with two gold-tone textured inserts that burst outward like comet tails.

Whatever you call the shape, it works. Signed with the Trifari word mark and copyright symbol, dating these to the 1970s–1980s. Trifari — founded by Italian immigrant Gustavo Trifari in 1925 and worn by everyone from Hollywood stars to First Lady Mamie Eisenhower — was one of the great names in American costume jewelry until its merger with Monet in 1994. Pieces from before that merger are the ones collectors seek out. These qualify. Clip-on backs, excellent condition.
