Desert Rose is not just a pattern — it is the most beloved American dinnerware ever made. Introduced by Franciscan Ceramics (Gladding, McBean & Co.) in 1941, it became the best-selling American dinnerware pattern in history, cherished for its hand-embossed pink roses, warm off-white earthenware body, and the way it makes any table feel like home. These pieces were made in California in the 1960s during the Gladding McBean era — hand-painted, not decal-applied — which is what collectors seek.
Thirty pieces for five people, each setting with a dinner plate, salad plate, bread and butter plate, dessert bowl, cup, and saucer. Off-white / warm beige in tone — not bright white, which is part of its character. We also carry matching serving pieces, rimmed soup bowls, creamer and sugar, and salt and pepper in this pattern.
A deeply meaningful gift for anyone who grew up with Desert Rose on the table, a serious collector of American pottery, or anyone ready to build a table that feels like it has always been there.
