This antique M & Z Austria shallow bowl is hand-decorated with bright oranges, apples, leaves, and blooms along a scalloped border — a pattern we call "Winter Fruits," since these fruits peak in the winter months.

An outstanding piece of decor — a wall plate, a shelf display, or simply admired on its own. A true treasure to own or gift, 112 to 137 years old and still in excellent condition.

M & Z Austria was founded in 1884, when the Moritz Zdekauer Bank purchased the porcelain factory from Augustin Novotny (who had owned it since 1824) at auction. The company was bought by C.M. Hutschenreuther in 1909, but kept the well-recognized MZ mark, later known as MZ Altrohlau. The factory operated until 1945, when it was nationalized; it became private again in 1992, and the trademark and assets were purchased again in 2013. Today it still operates in the Czech Republic as Starorolský Porcelán Moritz Zdekauer, in the town of Stará Role — formerly Altrohlau, Austria.
