Hand painted and artist-signed, this antique Nippon plate carries a lush arrangement of flowers in orange, peach, pink, burgundy, and white, each bloom outlined in gold against deep green leaves. The rim is finished in raised gold moriage beading — every bead in perfect condition — that transforms the border into something closer to jewelry than ceramics. The backstamp reads "Hand Painted Nippon" with the M-in-wreath mark of the Morimura Company, used between 1911 and 1921 before Morimura evolved into the Noritake we know today. These are among the most collectible Japanese ceramics in the American market.
