The Louise series from J&C Jaeger & Co. was produced during one of Bavarian porcelain's most assured periods — and the hand that painted this plate knew exactly what it was doing.
Large pink spider chrysanthemums and smaller white blooms radiate across the plate, surrounded by leaves in varying greens against a background that shifts from white through blush to soft green and a subtle blue. The brush strokes are clearly visible — this is genuine hand painting, not a transfer — and the thin gold rim is still bright. Stamped on the back with the J&C mark and the word "Louise," Bavaria.
