  • Pattern:  Vintage Porcelain Decorative Wine Jug, Oinochoe. Applied Flowers
  • Vintage:  1960's - 1970's
  • Made in Japan for Arnart Creations
  • Details:  This is such an adorable decorative piece!   It is shaped like the ancient Oenochoe (also spelled oinochoe), said to be used during the Bronze Age in the time of Troy for serving wine.  This one is made of bisque porcelain with the prettiest hand applied and hand painted flowers, along with gold paint accents.  It would make a perfect bud vase or pretty displayed on its own.  The bottom is stamped with one of the many Arnart logos, this one has the two crossed arrows used by Arnart Creations in the 1950's, plus there is a number, "4831T", most likely a model number.  If you collect Arnart, this piece is rarely found for sale, would make a great addition to your collection.  Otherwise, it's a great decor piece for Spring, Easter, anytime pretty flowers are needed for a pop of color!

Arnart Imports Inc., is still in operation (as of this writing) and is currently located in 230 Fifth Avenue, New York. The company specializes in porcelain gifts and decorative accessories. First registered trade mark is the Crown and A’s mark registered April 30, 1953.  They imported lots of giftware, figurine and decor pieces under several names, with different logos, like Arnart Creations, Royal Crown, 5th Avenue and perhaps others.  The logos also changed, some were stamped and some were on foil stickers.  There are a lot of Arnart collectors who appreciate these pieces, just like depression glass, not  high priced pieces at the time they were introduced, but certainly have grown in appreciation and value.
