Details: A very beautiful oriental/Asian decorative bowl. Bright, gorgeous colors, pink, purple, blue and yellow flowers with their green leaves on a bright red background, some of the painting is done with the moriage technique so it's raised. The bowl is encased in a brass, we believe these cases became popular because they were less likely to brake during export. These pieces were imported by A.C.F, they were Japanese made porcelain, decorated in Hong Kong. Should be used for decoration only, back then they still used LEAD paint so this piece should never be used with food. It is stamped on back: "Japanese Porcelain Ware, A.C.F., Decorated in Hong Kong". Would look great on a side table or hanging on the wall. Perfect gift for an Oriental decor fan!

Condition: Vintage- Used. Good Vintage Condition. The front of the bowl has no chips, cracks or scratches. However, the back brass has one small dent and a scrape/scratch (sorry about the glare, was the only was we could photograph it). As with all vintage metal pieces, there are surface scratches on the brass and lots of wear, it could use a good cleaning. All acceptable due to age/use/wear. *The Hong Kong porcelain trade hit its peak in the 1960's, with just over a hundred workshops in the territory. At this time the demand for Hong Kong decorated porcelain forced the workshops to also import white porcelain from Japan to be decorated in Hong Kong. Some trading agents specifically ordered plain porcelain from Japan. The porcelain trade thrived until the 1970's.
