"Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow." That's the slogan the city of Reidsville, North Carolina chose for their centennial — and Jim Beam honored it in style. This 1973 commemorative decanter marks 100 years of Reidsville, from its founding in 1873 to its centennial celebration, rendered in a stunning blue and white porcelain with both gold and silver gilding.
One side carries the city's centennial slogan in elegant script; the other features a detailed map of North Carolina set within a large gold ring. The porcelain is richly textured with embossed detail throughout, and the gilding — both gold and silver — is fully intact. It retains the original label and tax strip. Made by Royal China for Jim Beam, originally sold with Beam 130 Months Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, now empty.
A beautiful piece for a Reidsville native, a North Carolina collector, a Jim Beam enthusiast, or any dad who loves a decanter with a genuine sense of place and history. Equally at home on a bar shelf, a study bookcase, or a display cabinet.
Reidsville, North Carolina was founded in 1873 in Rockingham County, in the heart of the state's historic tobacco belt. Named after local landowner and businessman Reuben Reid, it grew into a prosperous manufacturing and agricultural community over its first century — and celebrated that century with this beautiful Jim Beam commemorative.
Jim Beam's city and state commemorative decanter series, produced through Royal China of Chicago, documented communities across America from the late 1950s through the 1980s. These local history pieces are increasingly sought after by regional collectors.
