  • Antique Creamer and Open Sugar Bowl with Handles, American Brilliant McKee Innovation Cut Glass, Etched 6 Petal Flower and Cane  / Buttons, Sawtooth Rim, Pairpoint Elegant Serveware, ABCG. Tableware, (Discontinued)
  • Made in: Jeannette, PA, USA
  • Antique: 1916
  • Details:   We believe this is an original McKee set of Open Sugar and Creamer, part of the American Brilliant Cut Glass (ABCG) period (1876 and 1917).  It could also be part of the "Murillo" pattern by Pairpoint (1900 - 1938, Sagamore, Massachusetts), We found the exact cut floral design in Murillo, but none of the different Murillo patterns have the additional Cane/Button design (at least the ones we saw), so we are leaning strongly towards McKee.  The one thing that holds us back from saying with 100% certainty this is McKee, is the shape, the "Innovation" shape was "chubbier", these pieces are more elongated.  Regardless of who the maker is, this is a stunning set, with a beautifully cut, detailed pattern, that started out as pressed glass and then it was hand-cut to create the floral motifs.  It even has a cut flower on the bottom!  The sawtooth rim is a favorite of the era and adds a wonderful detail.  There is a manufacturing flaw, see "Condition" below for details.  This is a heavy glass set, please keep this in mind at check-out.
  • Material: Glass
  • Dimensions:  Sugar: Approx 3.25 inches Tall (to spout), 6.0 inches Wide (handle to spout).  Sugar:  Approx 3.0 inches Tall, 7.0 inches Wide (handle to handle).
  • Condition:  Antique - Used.  Excellent Condition.  There are no chips or cracks.  There is a manufacturing flaw, a tiny piece of something got inside the glass in the Creamer, cannot be removed.  There are very minor scratches on the bottom as acceptable due to age/use/wear.  Some pictures were enhanced to show detail.  Please review all pictures and make sure you love this item before purchasing, we can't accept returns.  Please remember these are VINTAGE and ANTIQUE items, they are NOT new, every effort has been made to show scratches, wear and tear and imperfections.

McKee Glass has a long history going back to S. McKee & Company in 1834 Pittsburg, PA. McKee went through several partnerships and mergers.   In 1904 they were doing business as McKee-Jeannette Glass Company, and that's the year they were granted a patent for the Prescut name (aka “tec” patterns).   Issued for the masses who couldn't afford fine cut crystal, these patterns imitated the fine cut glass, and looked beautiful.  The first two patterns issued were Aztec and Toltec.  McKee is also known for their “Glasbake” brand glass, introduced in 1917 to compete with Pyrex.  In 1951, McKee became a division of the Thatcher Glass Manufacturing Company and renamed McKee Division of Thatcher Glass Company.  In 1961, Thatcher sold the company to another glass manufacturer, Jeannette Glass Co.
