Blue flowers trailing through a scalloped border, on sturdy English ironstone that's built to last another fifty years — the Copenhagen pattern earns its name.
J. & G. Meakin was founded in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent in 1851 and grew to become one of Britain's largest pottery manufacturers, producing primarily for export to the US and British Empire colonies. The Copenhagen pattern was introduced after Meakin joined the Wedgwood Group in 1970, placing this creamer in the 1970s. It's part of their Classic ironstone line, backstamped accordingly. The pattern is simple and honest — blue florals and vines on a scalloped-rim cream, in the ironstone tradition that values durability as much as beauty. The Copenhagen creamer is genuinely hard to find; individual pieces from this pattern surface rarely.
A rare piece for collectors of English ironstone or J. & G. Meakin specifically. Beautiful on a casual farmhouse table or mixed with other blue-and-white pieces. A gift with real provenance for anyone who knows their Stoke-on-Trent makers.
