  • Antique Sugar and Creamer, Hand Painted Florals with Green Leaves and Gilding, Satin Finish German Porcelain, Ornate, R.S. Prussia Reinhold Schlegelmilch, Pristine Elegant Tableware, Serveware, RARE, (Discontinued)
  • Made in Germany
  • Antique: late 1870's - 1918
  • Details:  This is a gorgeous set of creamer and covered sugar from a renown Germany porcelain maker RS Prussia.  The pattern has delicate white flowers with gilded center and soft leaves in varying shades of green.  Additional raised gilding represent branches, absolutely beautiful!   The shape is just as lovely, swirled rims, ornate handles and chubby, melon-shaped bodies, all in very lightweight, translucent porcelain.  They look hand painted, but we've learned the vast majority of RS Prussia pieces were made with decal with some added hand-work, in this set it's the gilding.  They both have a backstamp, we have researched and are very confident these are the real thing, true RS Prussia, not reproductions.  These pieces, produced by RS Prussia between 1900 and 1910 are the most popular with collectors, this set would make an amazing gift for an RS Prussia collector. Gorgeous on a Spring or green-themed table setting.

RS Prussia was founded by Reinhold Schlegelmilch in Prussia, (now Suhl, Germany) in 1869.  Also, his two sons, Ehrhard and Arnold, took over an existing porcelain factory in Tillowitz (now Tułowice, Poland), in 1894 and incorporated it to the RS Prussia company.  They have an extensive history, impossible to re-tell here in its entirety.  The backstamp, "R.S. Prussia", seen on these dishes, was used approximately from the 1870's – 1918.  The company made a variety of items including: teapots, coffee pots, cups, saucers, sugar and creamer sets, bowls, plates, and even chocolate sets. They issued a wide range of patterns, the floral ones are all beautifully ornate, with brilliant colors and most contain some type of gilding.  The RS Prussia factory in Tillowitz Germany was taken over by the Polish government after WWII from 1946 - 1947.  However, production of the high quality, most desired pieces, considered high-end collectibles, ceased in the mid 1940's.  The company continued producing china until approx 1956.
