Pink, blue, and yellow flowers with a chinoiserie lightness — and a sugar lid shaped like something from a Japanese garden pavilion.
The Hampton pattern by Ranmaru for Crescent Fine China has an appealing duality: the flowers are soft and Western in palette, but the silhouette of the sugar lid and the overall composition carry a distinct Oriental sensibility that gives the set a refinement beyond its era. Several blooms in pink, blue, and yellow play across both pieces against bright white porcelain; thin blue bands frame the upper edges. Backstamped "Crescent Fine China by Ranmaru, Hampton, Japan." Estimated to the 1980s based on comparable pieces from the same maker. Note: the sugar has a very small yellow stain near the rim that did not come out with cleaning — shown in the photos.
A pretty set for a breakfast table or a tea tray, and a lovely hostess gift for anyone drawn to the chinoiserie aesthetic. Easy to mix with blue-and-white or floral china already in use.
