The Castaways Hotel in Miami Beach was unlike anything else on the strip — and the Wreck Bar was its most legendary room.
The Castaways operated from 1958 to 1981, a dramatic Asian-Polynesian resort where guests could watch swimmers through giant glass portholes built behind the Wreck Bar. The Beatles reportedly stayed there. The resort featured the Wreck Bar, a Tahitian Cocktail Lounge, and a Shinto Temple Room — a mid-century fever dream of tropical escapism at its finest. This swizzle stick from the Wreck Bar is made by Stirring Designs and captures that spirit perfectly — a palm tree design in a tropical color, a souvenir from one of Miami Beach's most storied venues. The site is now a condominium tower, which makes anything from The Castaways genuinely collectible.
A wonderful find for the swizzle stick collector, the Miami Beach history enthusiast, or anyone who loves Tiki and mid-century resort culture.
