The Boston 1800 Club was no ordinary waterfront bar — and this swizzle stick is no ordinary find.
Located in East Boston, the 1800 Club was a waterfront restaurant and nightclub with a sea-and-ships theme that included a floating cocktail lounge built as a replica of Donald McKay's famous clipper ship, the Flying Cloud. A fire in 1971 ended it all, and the club never reopened — which means anything from it is genuinely rare. This hard plastic swizzle stick features a ship's helm (wheel) at the top and a rope-style font reading "1800 Club," in a soft pastel that evokes a perfect summer evening on the harbor. Swizzle sticks from defunct establishments are among the most sought-after by collectors, and this one has a story that matches its scarcity.
A rare gift for the swizzle stick collector, the Boston history enthusiast, or anyone who loves the objects that survive when the places themselves don't.
