There's something deeply satisfying about a clock that doesn't just tell time — it tells a story. This solid wood ship's wheel clock from United Clock Corp of Brooklyn, New York is exactly that kind of object: purposeful, characterful, and quietly commanding wherever it lands.

Shaped like the wheel of a yacht or sailing vessel, it carries the confident, no-nonsense aesthetic of American manufacturing at its peak. The large, legible dial face sits within a beautifully aged wood case, and the clock runs on AC current — the original cord, by Leviton, is still intact. We kept it plugged in for a week and it kept perfect time. The model number 330 is stamped on the back, along with the full United Clock Corp maker's mark. We've dated this piece to between 1940 and 1956, when United Clock was acquired by Sessions — this clock still bears the United name.

A distinguished piece for a coastal or nautical room, a study, a boat, or simply a home that values things made with intention. It would make a memorable gift for the sailor, the collector, or anyone who appreciates mid-century American craft.
