This is an original Blue Ribbon inner cigar box label — the first generation label from 1909, produced for the E. L. Golden cigar company of Bonneauville, Pennsylvania by M. H. Sevis & Son of Springvale. Bold and graphic: a deep navy blue band with Blue Ribbon in large font, Golden's It's Mild on smaller flanking ribbons, all set against a bright green background dense with gilded scrolls and flowers. Where the later 1920s Blue Ribbon label went for maximum elaboration, this original 1909 version has a directness and confidence that is entirely its own.

Blue Ribbon cigars were introduced by the E. L. Golden cigar company of Bonneauville, Pennsylvania in 1909 — the most successful business ever to operate in that town. The company started in 1895 and produced many brands including Bokay-Grande, Bunney Boys, Penn Rose, Two Homers, and others. A. J. Golden held the copyright for Golden's Blue Ribbon by 1926. Golden's produced their last cigar in March 1943.
