Norway is not a country typically associated with children's porcelain — which is exactly what makes this set so rare.
Figgjo Flint was one of Scandinavia's most respected ceramics manufacturers, and their FIG6 children's set is a genuine mid-century find. Three pieces, three scenes: the dinner plate shows two small alpine children recoiling in delighted alarm from a leaping frog; the bowl catches a boy in mid-leap over a fence, chased by a barking dog; the cup carries both scenes, one on each side. The linework is charming without being saccharine — there's real character in these illustrations. All three pieces are stamped "Figgjo Flint Made in Norway" on the base, which dates them to 1950. The decals and gold rims are in excellent condition; only the cup shows a tiny bit of crazing.
A complete set in this condition from this maker is genuinely uncommon. A remarkable baby shower or christening gift for a family that appreciates beautiful, lasting things — or a serious addition to a children's porcelain collection.
