A white porcelain tea set for four, with a pigtailed little girl surrounded by flowers and her white bunny beside her on every cup, saucer, and teapot. It’s a sweet little tea party straight out of the 1960s.
Maker: Unmarked
Materials: Porcelain
Quantity: 10 pieces, set for 4 (4 cups, 4 saucers, teapot and lid)
Origin: Japan
Era: Vintage 1960s
Condition: Very Good. One cup has some wrinkling in the decal; all other pieces are in perfect condition. Please review photos closely before purchasing, as all sales are final.
Every piece carries the same decal, and only the teapot lid is left plain. Each is marked Japan on the back. Sets like this were sold as a “Toy China Tea Set,” and this one has a cup and saucer for each of the four guests plus the teapot and lid, 10 pieces in all.
This makes a charming gift for a tea set collector or a vintage toy lover, and it would look lovely on a nursery shelf or in a playroom display.
Toy china tea sets were a staple of mid-century childhood. Japanese potteries turned out inexpensive decorated porcelain sets in huge numbers for American dime stores and toy departments. Girls used them for tea parties and dolls, which is why complete, unchipped sets are harder to find today than you’d expect.
