"Laura Lee Hope" was a house pseudonym of the Stratemeyer Syndicate, the book-packaging company founded by Edward Stratemeyer that also produced Nancy Drew, the Hardy Boys, and Tom Swift. First used in 1904 for the debut Bobbsey Twins book, the name was shared across a rotating team of ghostwriters — including Stratemeyer himself, Howard and Lilian Garis, and Stratemeyer's daughter Harriet Adams — who kept the series running for 75 years and 72 volumes.
