Margaret Wise Brown (1910-1952) trained at the experimental Bank Street College of Education in New York, where progressive theories about how young children actually experience the world shaped her spare, sensory writing style. She published more than 100 books in her short career, including Goodnight Moon (1947) and The Runaway Bunny (1942), before her sudden death at 42; this edition of The Golden Egg Book, published more than two decades later, shows how enduring her stories remained for new generations of Golden Books readers.
