Holly Hobbie is both the pen name and the character created by artist Denise Holly Ulinskas, who sold her watercolor illustrations of a bonneted, patchwork-dressed little girl to American Greetings in the late 1960s. The character debuted on greeting cards in 1967 and grew into one of the best-selling licensed properties of the 1970s, eventually expanding into rag dolls, housewares, and — as with this volume — a run of gentle, nostalgic storybooks under her own name.
