Stories, pictures, and poems for little folks — from Boston, 1891, and still speaking.
Chatter is the first volume in a series introduced by De Wolfe, Fiske & Co. in 1891 — a distinguished Boston publisher whose children's books were among the most beautifully produced of the Victorian era. This treasury of stories, nursery rhymes, and poems is filled with black-and-white engraved illustrations and opens with a lovely color illustration of three girls on the front board. At 135 years old, it carries its age honestly — but the pages hold, and the pictures remain.
For the serious Victorian collector or antiquarian book enthusiast — one of the rarest things we've had in the shop.
