Two small birds in flight — one looking up, one looking down — hand painted in cheerful color and genuinely hard to find in this condition.
English chalkware birds from the 1940s–1950s, sold as a set of two: one bird looking up (approx. 3" × 1.75") and one looking down (approx. 3" × 3"). Available in Yellow/Red, Yellow/Black, or Blue/Pink (repaired — priced accordingly). Each set is hand painted and stamped on the back with registration numbers consistent with the British Registered Designs Act of 1949. Hooks on back for hanging. While chalkware birds are not uncommon, sets of this age in this condition are rare — most examples at market are newer reproductions. These retain their original bright color and real mid-century character.
In a living room, a sunroom, a girl's room, or anywhere a small bright thing earns a place on the wall. A wonderful gift for a bird lover, a chalkware collector, or a lover of British mid-century craft.
