Three carafes. Three warming stands. Eight pieces total, all in copper and heat-resistant glass. The Inland Glassworks set that belongs in a museum — and one does.
This is a complete vintage MCM coffee and serving set by Inland Glassworks, Chicago, Illinois. Hand-blown heat-resistant glass with copper warming stands. The set includes one large carafe with lid and warming stand, plus two smaller "Twin Hot Servers" with lids and warming stands — eight pieces total. Made in Chicago, circa 1950s. The warmers use a candle or tealight. Excellent vintage condition. One set available.
The large carafe design was patented by Ernest L. Lilja in 1949 and became the centrepiece of Inland's celebrated carafe line — one of which is on permanent display at the Chicago Museum. The Twin Hot Servers were marketed in Inland's catalog as "The best friend a tasty waffle ever had" — designed for syrups, honey, melted butter, and sauces. Today they work equally well for flavored coffee syrups, warm liqueurs, or warm vanilla at a bar or breakfast table.
Inland Glassworks was founded in 1922 in Chicago and grew from lighting fixtures into one of the most celebrated mid-century kitchenware manufacturers in the country. The company was acquired by Club Aluminum Products in 1951 and liquidated in 1963 — their copper carafe designs remain among the most collected pieces of American MCM serveware.
