The Moon and Stars pattern has been produced by many companies over the years, including US Glass, Imperial Glass, and Kemple, though it's believed to originate with Adams & Company in the 1880s. Amberina glass itself was first developed by the New England Glass Company in 1883 — a gradient technique that shifts from red to amber, sometimes reversed, with hues ranging from soft pastel pink and yellow to deep ruby and amber. L.E. Smith Glass Company, founded in 1907 in Jeannette, Pennsylvania by Louis E. Smith and business partner Charles Wible, went on to operate for nearly a century, expanding into depression glass, hurricane lamps, and decorative glassware before eventually being sold in 2005.
