This mid-century Wilton bride and groom cake topper is the real thing — hand-painted celluloid figures with the kind of delicate detail that simply cannot be replicated today. The faces are hand-painted with fine brushwork. The bride's dress and veil are real tulle, still intact and soft after all these decades. The lace-heart base — lightweight celluloid — is marked on the bottom: Wilton, Woodridge, IL, Hong Kong, 20 I 7846. A dove flies above them carrying two interlocked rings. Seventy years later, they are still standing.
