The square plates against the round serving plate is an unusual and elegant pairing.
This is the kind of set that was kept behind glass and brought out for very special occasions — it deserves to be used. An exceptional bridal shower or wedding gift, a serious collector's acquisition, or a heirloom-quality find for anyone who entertains beautifully.
Bohemia Ceramic Works was founded in 1921 in what is now the Czech Republic, and for the next two decades produced some of the most elaborately gilded porcelain in Central Europe. This thirteen-piece set was made exclusively for Macy's — the Macy's backstamp confirms the retail partnership, the Bohemia mark places it between 1922 and 1945.
