- Vintage Butter Pat, Whitfield Gardenia by Syracuse China Restaurant Ware, Tableware, Servingware, Collectible, USA Pottery, Butter Server, RARE, (Discontinued)
- Made in USA
- Vintage: 1948 - 1960's
- Details: This vintage butter pat is extremely hard to find! It is from Syracuse China, (originally the Onondaga Pottery Company) in Syracuse, NY. This is their Whitfield Gardenia pattern, aka #96801. It is part of their Restaurant Ware collection which is much thicker vitrified china, used not only in restaurants but also hotels, railroads, and diners, so it had to be strong for intensive commercial use. The backstamp simply marked: U.S.A., we know this is an early piece, this pattern was originally issued circa 1948 and through the mid-1960s. If you find this pattern with a gold band at the top, that was made exclusively for the Illinois Central Railroad (ICRR) and called "Magnolia Star". These make unique ring dishes, small soap dishes, or as intended, for serving butter. If you're a butter pat collector this one is not to be missed!
