The centerpiece is a large oval cabochon in Italian matrix marble — that particular swirling pink stone that collectors sometimes call "landscape" marble for the way it seems to hold depth and movement. Around it: white molded textured stones, amber rhinestones, tiny white enamel flowers with aqua blue enamel leaves, all held in place by gold-tone prongs that are as much decoration as structure. The earrings carry the same vocabulary in a smaller format — pink marble, navette-cut white stones, enamel flowers, amber rhinestones. Clip-back.
Unmarked, but the quality and construction read like the best mid-century unsigned work — in the style of DeLizza & Elster, Schreiner, Miriam Haskell, or Hobé. This is not a piece that announces its maker; it doesn't need to. The stones and the setting speak clearly enough.
Chunky, intricate, and completely unlike anything being made today. An outstanding gift for a serious vintage jewelry collector, a lover of sculptural jewelry, or anyone who appreciates objects made with genuine imagination.
