Hearts, stylized flowers, the clean simplified linework of American folk art — American Provincial by Homer Laughlin is a pattern that is both immediately recognizable and surprisingly rare to find. Introduced in 1951 and produced on the Rhythm ceramic shape, this plate is stamped L52 N5 on the back, dating it precisely to 1952. The off-white, slightly beige ground gives it the warmth of handmade pottery — entirely appropriate for a folk-inspired design.
It works beautifully as a replacement plate for an existing set, as wall décor in a farmhouse or country kitchen, or as a charming standalone piece for anyone drawn to mid-century American folk art ceramics.
