This original Scarlet Crown outer box label was copyrighted in 1899 and produced by Schmidt & Co. of Lower Manhattan, New York — one of the finest lithography houses of the label's golden age. A regal lion stands behind a royal crown, the whole composition vibrant with color and rich with gilded and embossed detail. This is Schmidt & Co. at their finest — a firm founded by a German immigrant, operating between 1874 and 1916, whose labels were among the most technically accomplished of the era. An 1899 copyright date makes this label over 125 years old. Two available.
