Reed & Barton has been making silverplate in Taunton, Massachusetts since 1824 — and this small bon bon dish from 1952 is a quiet example of their craft. The center carries an ornate scrollwork design; two distinct floral bands ring the border, each with its own character. Low and wide at just an inch tall, it's a versatile piece: candy dish, plant saucer, catch-all by the door, or a tray for rings and small jewelry. Because there is a small area of missing plating off-center (copper visible beneath), it works beautifully filled — the ornate border does the decorative work.
A lovely piece for the silverplate collector, as a drip tray for a plant, or a trinket dish. Perfect for the shabby-chic home, or those who enjoy vintage patina.
