Binding Brewery was founded in Frankfurt in 1870 by Conrad Binding and remains the largest brewery in the state of Hessen to this day. Its eagle logo is woven deep into Frankfurt culture — the same eagle appears on the city crest and on the uniforms of Eintracht Frankfurt, the Bundesliga football club, tying the beer, the team, and the city together in red, white, and black. Over the decades Binding has expanded to include Henninger, Clausthaler, and Schöfferhofer under its umbrella, with a US branch based in Norwalk, Connecticut.
