Impressed into the base with the mark "JWC, Germany" and a run of production numbers, this brown-glazed stoneware beer mug is the work of an unidentified mid-20th-century German studio potter. There's something wonderfully grounded about this mug — the weight of it, the earthy glaze, the hand-impressed marks of a maker who signed their work with quiet pride.
