We dated this postcard knowing: The American Postcard Company released a collector series of music and celebrity pop-culture postcards in the early 1980s, printed in Italy and distinguished by their distinct barcode-framed backs. Barcodes did not become common on retail items until the 1970s, and they did not show up on postcards until the 1980s. Many high-quality reprinted postcards and "pop culture" retro items were printed in Italy during the 1980s and early 1990s.
