Maurice of California, was founded by Maurice Pechman (1924 - 2011), a Polish immigrant and concentration camp survivor.  He established the business in Los Angeles in 1954.  They are best known for their own line of very retro / funky looking ashtrays, however, they also made candle holders, cookie jars and other wares. According to his obituary, the company also imported both pottery and glass from Europe and the Orient.  They were in business until 1985.
